Timber glazing upgrades in Hyde

Trickle Vents and Ventilation around Hyde is a different job from one street to the next. Around here it is mill-era terraces, interwar semis and large commercial and retail frontages, and that alone rules out anything bought by the pallet. With persistently high rainfall with limited drying windows in the mix, coating failure and rot on north-facing elevations that rarely dry out is a question of when rather than whether. Everything we do here comes back to keeping background ventilation compliant once you seal a house up.

A surveyor visits first and records the real dimensions, at several points on each opening. Photographs and approximate sizes are all we need to start.

Something particular to this area: high commercial density supports substantial shopfitting and contract joinery demand.

What we cover locally

Hyde questions

Do you work in hardwood or softwood?

Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.

Is the timber certified?

All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.

What guarantee do you provide?

Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.

Can you work on a listed building?

Yes, and a significant share of our work is listed or conservation area. We can supply drawings and section details to support a listed building consent or planning application, though the consent itself remains the owner's responsibility.

Will the finish need maintaining?

A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
